Always test your AI Actor before using it with real candidates. The best way to test is to create a meeting with yourself as the participant and go through the interview as if you were a candidate.

How to run a test

1

Create a test meeting

Click Create Meeting and select the AI Actor you want to test. In the participants step, add yourself — your own email for Google Meet or your phone number for a phone call.See Schedule Meetings for the full meeting setup flow.
2

Join the call

At the scheduled time, join the Google Meet link or answer the phone call. The AI Actor will greet you and start the interview.
3

Go through the interview

Answer the questions as a candidate would. Try different types of answers:
  • Give a detailed, strong answer to see how the AI handles it.
  • Give a very short answer to see if the AI asks a follow-up.
  • Go off-topic briefly to see if the AI redirects you.
  • Ask a question the AI shouldn’t be able to answer to test the guardrails.
4

Review the results

After the call, go to Calendar and click the completed meeting. Check:
  • Recording — Does the conversation sound natural? Is the pacing right?
  • Insights — Are the extracted values accurate? Did the AI capture what you said?
  • Scores and charts — Do the ratings make sense based on your answers?
See Meeting Results for details on reviewing results.
5

Adjust and retest

Based on what you find, update the AI Actor’s Purpose, Insights, or voice settings and run another test.

What to listen for

CheckWhat to look for
IntroDoes the AI Actor introduce itself naturally? Does it set the right tone?
QuestionsAre the topics covered in the right order? Does the flow feel conversational?
Follow-upsDoes the AI dig deeper on short answers? Does it redirect off-topic responses?
TimingDoes the call stay within the expected duration?
Wrap-upDoes the AI end the call cleanly and explain next steps?
InsightsAfter the call, are the extracted values accurate and useful?
Have a colleague run through the test too. A fresh perspective often catches things you miss — awkward phrasing, unclear questions, or missing insights.

How many tests before going live

Most teams go through 2-3 test rounds before their AI Actor is ready for real candidates. After each test, make small adjustments to the Purpose and Insights, then test again.
